Japanese term

菊水塩干

Japanese to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
Context: 菊水塩干などの優美な意匠が生まれました。

No Google hits again, like the last post I made, if anyone who answered that is looking :) This is relating to the making of Wakasa Lacquer.

Thanks.

design name

It is just the name of lacquering design/technique ( explicit formula can not be found ). So as proper noun - it must not be translated.

kikusui-shioboshi

Probably, 塩干 is the same as 汐干 as 汐 is also pronounced as しお.

At the bottom of the below link, it says 「代表的な意匠として菊水汐干(きくすいしおぼし)がある。」Although it's English translation says "kikusui-oboshi", I think "kikusui-shioboshi" should be the correct one.

I think a transliteration will do since it's a name of an 意匠.
