French term
elle ne visse pas
French to English
Other
Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
woodworking, logging
My context: "Et après, il faut un bois qui fende bien. Le tavillon, il est fendu, il n'est pas scié, donc il ne faut pas du tout
que le bois vrille. Il y en a une belle qu'on pourrait éventuellement prendre. Elle est pas mal. Et puis... elle ne visse pas."
I am not sure of vriller, but I supppose it means it shouldn't be sawn. But for "visser" all I have found is "screw"and it does not seem right. Please help. Thank you.

it's not twisted
In my opinion, "elle vrille" et "elle visse" are synonyms here (although "elle visse" is not really correct, it' probably a local usage).

Discussion
From 1:25 to 2:10 you will see how a "tavaillon" is cut, and what tool is used for that. Around 5:00 you can check that you do not use screws, but nails, to set a "tavaillon" on the wall.
