Thank you for explaining this. I appreciate and understand how you came to your conclusion. But I do find it strange that there is no image of a "bear trap" on the internet that resembles an image of a "timmerbjörn".

I could scan, I guess, but It seems loggers look at their work as tough stuff. My analogue TNC 'Skogsordlista' has the definition in my suggestion for 'björn; björnbindelse'.

The next entry is 'björning' as 'åstramninging och fästning med björnbindelse'; and the Eng term = 'tightening (with a bear trap)'.

The next entry is 'björnkoppel' = binding chain with bear trap

And the next entry is 'björnstock' as 'stock på vilken underlag vilar' = head log

Honestly, I couldn't make this up!! ;-) They have no pictures, tho.

Odd choice If you take a look at an image of "timmerbjörn" and then look at an image of a "bear trap", they don't seem to be the same thing.

From my analog forestry dict. for björnbindelse = "hävarm med kätting för förbindning av bindkätingar".

Provides great nice color in any case.
