French term

capacités appelées

French to English Tech/Engineering Energy / Power Generation the extension of a \"convention de concession\" (electricity)

Thank you for your help.

capacities demanded

The opposition is between 'appelé' and 'disponible', which usually reflects 'demande / availability'.

In fact, in EN we would be less likely to use it in the plural than in FR; but ti does all depend on the wider context if there is some specific reason to retain the plural in EN.

I agree with Korachi and Didier that it is obviously of course referring to a demand for 'power'; however, in generating / supply terms, we do often look upon and refer to this as 'capacity', in a more notional sense of 'the generating capacity required to meet a certain demand'. It's all just a question of viewpoint...

Thanks you for your kind words! I do always try my best — though with certain askers it is sometimes very difficult!

Thank you, Tony. And thank you for ALWAYS answering questions in a non-judgmental way (which is almost unique on Proz, where most people have a holier-than-thou attitude).

Power demand

Peer comment(s):

You are welcome.

thank you
Peer comment(s):

disagree Tony M : 'allocated' doesn't really work here: it's all about what is DEMANDED, not (necessarily) that which is able to be supplied.
