College course description
I am looking for the correct English equivalent of innvalgskurs. It appears in this sentence: I en spesialiseringsretning er det anledning til a velge
inntil 12 studiepoeng innvalgskurs fra en annen spesialiseringsretning i siviløkonomistudiet.
I understand that it is a course within the choice of specialization direction (major), but may I call it "minor"?
Could also anyone refer me to the Norwegian-English educational dictionary?
Thank you.

elective courses / electives
Terms used in education vary around the world but I'm going for 'elective courses' (or just 'electives') as one that seems to be quite widely used these days.
Example sentence:
Electives, when added to the compulsory courses, make up the total number of units needed to complete your degree.

Comment: "Thank you very much. That's what I chose."
