French term

personne de l’acheteur

Non-PRO French to English Law/Patents General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters agency agreement
Hi,

This appears in a 'non-exclusive agency agreement' [property] as follows:

Pendant le cours du présent mandat et de ses renouvellements ainsi que dans les 12 mois suivant l’expiration ou la résiliation de celui-ci, le mandant s’interdit de traiter directement ou par l’intermédiaire d’un autre mandataire avec un acheteur présenté à lui par le mandataire ou un mandataire substitué.

Cette interdiction vise tant la personne de l’acheteur que son conjoint ou partenaire avec lequel il se porterait acquéreur, ou encore toute société dans laquelle ledit acheteur aurait une participation.

Any help appreciated!

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (3): AllegroTrans, Rachel Fell, Germaine

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

the buyer (himself/herself)

I would leave out "himself/herself".

Or "the purchaser".

agree Daryo : I think it's better to include "himself/herself" to make a contrast with those "related to" the buyer, as opposed to being the "buyer himself/herself"

the buyer in person

Hello

A late entry so it won't get chosen but I'm surprised no one suggested it as:
1 It has the word "person" to match the French "personne"
2 It avoids the trap of "himself/herself"

Peer comment(s):

neutral AllegroTrans : Not 100% wrong but I don't think this is the implied stress here
