I am positive that you encountered a spelling mistake in the original document. It should read "Heckenzuege"in this context which means "rows of hedges". If there is something like "hedgerow" in English you should go for that.

I can't find any references to this composite word, but as it is grouped with woodland it seems the most logical explanation.

From: Hacken = to hoe (Hackenfrucht = root crops); Zug = Ausdehnung, a stretch.

Maybe an agricultural expert can confirm
