Translating this name from Cantonese into English it might appear as either Bak Ping or Bak Peng. Assuming that this is place located on the mainland or in Taiwan, surely it is written differently.

I heard that some Taiwanese don't want to use the character 'jing' or 'capital', since they don't want to admit that Beijing is the capital, so they use the character 'ping' instead. So, this is some Taiwanese propraganda term for Beijing. (Note that the international community no longer accepts Peking).
