Eliza Hall May 28, 2021:
Australian court division? Dextof, can you clarify what your source text is about? The fact you're in Australia makes me think it may be about the Equity Division of the Supreme Court: https://www.supremecourt.justice.nsw.gov.au/Pages/sco2_about...

...and particularly the part of the Equity Division that deals with probate (estates/wills). Is that the case?

English term (edited): Oz: Equity E+W: Chancery Division
Selected

Equity Division: approx. Section Chancellerie en matière successorale

It's Equity with a capital E and that is dispensed in England and Wales in the Courts of Chancery covering equity + trusts. The Probate Div. in London is now part of the Family Division of the High Court.

'Better leave court divisions in the original - and add a short explanation - in case writs get redirected to the wrong pigeonhole.'

equity of estates in succession : I doubt it, even Down Under. Rather, there can be an equity of redemption in a mortgage of land or a financial equity in a house as the credit balance after deduction of such mortgage.

Example sentence:

La Court of Chancery (Cour de la Chancellerie en français) était un tribunal britannique. Contrairement aux tribunaux de common law, le système juridique anglais, la Cour de la Chancellerie appliquait les règles de l’equity.

Oz: An exemplification is an official extractof the grant /of representation e.g. of letters of admin. or probate / issued under the seal of the Supreme Court of Victoria.

agree AllegroTrans : Also works, historically, for Canada https://www.ontariocourts.ca/scj/fr/a-propos/historique/ but I would prefer "Chambre" to "Section"

Merci, Cyril, and thanks. Alas, not a very constructive discussion entry from someone else.
