French term

manettes des moules

French to English Tech/Engineering Ships, Sailing, Maritime Catamaran construction

Discussion

I've had to send the translation, and I used "are working on the moulds and templates". It's quite an informal newsletter and nothing more fancy is needed. Thanks to all for your suggestions!
Suzie Withers Jun 24, 2021:
@Daryo Thanks, I have proposed an answer to the amended term
Daryo Jun 23, 2021:
@Suzie Withers I think your interpretation makes most sense / fits perfectly.

The way the question is asked reflects an incorrect parsing.

The relevant term is "être aux manettes de"!

Care to put it as your answer?

https://www.afpa.fr/idees-metier/menuisier-en-construction-n...
Le/la menuisier/ère en construction nautique travaille à partir de plans, schémas, d'épures, de gabarits
Il/elle fabrique les moules et les outillages destinés à leur mise en œuvre.

No typo
claude-andrew (asker) Jun 23, 2021:
@Marco No, it's a straight Word doc, so I think a typo is unlikely, especially as it would be "n" for "qu".

Marco Solinas Jun 23, 2021:
To Asker I have a hunch that "manettes" is a typo for "maquettes". Is it a PDF to Word conversion?
Suzie Withers Jun 23, 2021:
My reading is that it's using the expression: "être aux manettes de" that means "taking charge of"

So the carpentry team will be in charge of making... (whatever "moules" and "gabarits" translate to in this context)

hands of the molds

We talk about the construction of a boat, the sense is that the carpentry also does its part.
