Ma come dicevo, dipende... La ragazza fa parte della squadra? La guida? Oppure "at its heart" si riferisce alla battaglia, o alla storia in generale?
Alla fine puoi scrivere il tutto in decine di modi diversi, anche in base ai "dettagli" specifici, ovviamente...
