Discussion

Nikki Scott-Despaigne Apr 5, 2022:
@Florence Agreed. A "boom tarp" (on indeed "boom tent"), as opposed to a "taud de soleil". Not to be confused with a "taud de bôme" or a "lazybag". Wouldn't it just have helped if the original had actually got the term correct in the first place. Cela met du baume au coeur mais qand même!

There may be a spelling error in your source text; perhaps, it should read "tente de bôme". See https://forum.wordreference.com/threads/la-baume-dun-bateau....
You will get many hits if you search "boom tent". See, for example, https://www.amazon.ca/Sailboat-Forward-Tarp-Combination-Sail... .
Ideally, I would have liked to get some hits when searching "tente de bôme" + "boom tent", but I did not get any. T

This bilingual site gives, as the French version, "tente de boom" (Canadian style franglais, I suppose). The English version is given as "boom tent" or "boom tarp".
Peer comment(s):

agree Nikki Scott-Despaigne : There is most definitely an error in the source text (baume=balm). "Boom tent" or "boom tarp" depending on your audience.
