French term

secteurs encastrés

French to English Medical Medical: Dentistry Document on Axiom3 dental implants
This is one of a series of articles about the Axiom3 dental implant system. A dentist states: "J’ai posé cet implant dans les secteurs encastrés principalement et surtout au maxillaire." Having translated a number of documents on this implant system I have not come across "encastré". I think "secteur" is "quadrant", but am not at all sure what is meant by "encastré". Does it refer to a quadrant that has been prepared for implants with the necessary pegs, etc.? It is a document for Anthogyr and is French French as opposed to Swiss or Belgian French. Thanks for all suggestions, as always.

fixed quadrant

I found this:
http://www.bongert.fr/protheses-et-ortheses/adjointe-resine/...

"Secteurs libres" being the opposite, the kind that are not "encastrés", i.e. removable.

So then I found this:
https://thedentistwestmidlands.co.uk/dental-implant/

My guess is that the dentist is speaking in reference to a fixed-removable combined system. If this is the case, then he is referring to the fixed section where he placed the anchors.

(There are probably other entries in the Glossary as well.)

I can't help you with "secteur". In conventional language it would just be "area".

Note from asker:
Thanks I have read all the Straumann documentation I can find online, but nothing to say what this is. It seems that it is QUADRANT, I found this elsewhere and it makes since as each arch has 2 quadrants, so 4 quadrants in the mouth. I looked for EMBEDDED QUADRANTS, but found nothing. That is why I wondered if it means quadrants where abutments have been pre-inserted/embedded.
