English term

is backward

English Art/Literary Religion Apologetics
When people come up to me and ask me questions, but then ask me to give up the Bible in my responses, I have a problem with that. In fact, the whole idea of asking the Christian to give up the Bible while also defending Christianity ***is backward***. We should be the ones saying, “Come on, what are your questions? Come on, what are they? I’m not giving up God’s Word. What’s your problem?” But many believers do not want to do that because they are not equipped to answer the questions of skeptics.

I think it’s ambiguous. Could be the wrong way around, could be backward as in outdated.

it goes contrary to what is being asked

In other words , it's contradictory. Given the specific context I believe this is the best interpretation

neutral Tony M : I think it's really more a question of asking the question the wrong way round.
