Da maggio 2015 l'Ufficio Italiano Brevetti e Marchi (UIBM) ha introdotto una nuova numerazione a 15 cifre per tutte le tipologie di depositi nazionali. Per effettuare i pagamenti (tramite modello F24) deve essere utilizzata la nuova numerazione. Per le domande registrate con numero nel precedente formato il nuovo numero di domanda può essere ricavato dalla pubblicazione del brevetto nella banca dati UIBM

A new, simplified numbering system for state aid cases was introduced in November 2010. Cases registered after this date are identified by one single number, prefixed by "SA", e.g. SA.12345. Individual procedure types are indicated in the details of the case where relevant.
For cases decided prior to 23 November 2010 the previous numbering system is maintained, i.e., the case number is composed of three (sometimes four) elements (for example N793b/1999): a letter indicating procedure type (see box below), a number indicating the serial number of the procedure and the year of the case's notification or registration, e.g. N652/2007.

There are not always entries in either the "Numero domanda" nor the "Numero domanda precedente formato" columns (3 out of 4 rows have entries in both)
The "Numero domanda" matches the "Numero domanda precedente formato" exactly in one case and the two entries differ in the other 2 cases
The entries in the "Numero domanda precedente formato" column are long strings, containing the year and other unique-looking info
Or "formato" could refer to the coding system, that is the old way to assign application nos. (think of licence plates for instance and how they changed form a format XY (letter) 123456 (digits) to XX- 123 - YY
