English term

righe e quadri [a/da] Katsuo

English to Italian Marketing Textiles / Clothing / Fashion
Hello, hope someone can give me a quick hand with this line. I'm revising some marketing copy and I'm a bit stuck on this part.

Original English is "the gradient stripe pattern of the tuna fish is the inspiration behind the collection’s Katsuo stripes and checks," (Katsuo being the Japanese word for Skipjack Tuna).

Translator provided "le sfumature del tonno sono la fonte d’ispirazione della collezione Katsuo a righe e quadri." This is not correct, as Katsuo is not the name of the collection, but just describing the inspiration for the pattern.

I want to fix it to ""le sfumature del tonno sono la fonte d’ispirazione delle righe e dei quadri Katsuo della collezione" or maybe "del motivo a righe e quadri Katsuo della collezione," but I can't decide whether it needs a preposition before "Katsuo."

Do either of those options sound right as is?

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Concordo con Barbara In italiano si chiama “tonnetto striato” e presenta sul fianco le tipiche striature che si assottigliano
Barbara Carrara Sep 13, 2023:
Andrew Your second option reads better.
However, the first half of the phrase is quite heavy-going in Italian, and 'stripe pattern' is missing from the translation. Here's my edited version,
la livrea a striature sfumate del tonno ispira i motivi a righe e quadri katsuo della collezione.

I think it sounds best without any prreposition, just like that.
