Yassine El Bouknify Nov 2, 2023:
Mild ascites Those with mild ascites may have an abdomen that appears normal, whereas those with more severe ascites may have a very large distended abdomen. As the fluid accumulates in the abdominal cavity. The belly button can also protrude from the body with severe ascites.

Ascites

Ascites is the abnormal build-up of fluid in the abdomen.[1] Technically, it is more than 25 ml of fluid in the peritoneal cavity, although volumes greater than one liter may occur.[4] Symptoms may include increased abdominal size, increased weight, abdominal discomfort, and shortness of breath.[3] Complications can include spontaneous bacterial peritonitis.[3]
In the developed world, the most common cause is liver cirrhosis.[4]
