GREDI

French to English Medical Medical (general) Ethics Committee members
Can someone help with this please… It is doing my head in.
It's in a document from a Belgian ethics committee (CHU UCL Namur) and it says
Etienne GOURDIN
Infirmier (membre du GREDI)

I have been Googling it for ages and cannot work it out. The only GREDI I can find in this context is "Groupe de recherche en économie et développement international" in Canada

Discussion

Sean Sheahan Feb 1:
Ah, I see Charles, I hadn't read completely and supposed the question was still open. Glad to help
Charles Stanford (asker) Feb 1:
I did Sean, a few entries down: "Groupe de Réflexion Ethique du Département Infirmier", from the horse's mouth (a member of the EC). But thanks very much for looking into it
Sean Sheahan Jan 31:
It seems not uncommon to use GRE as Groupe de Réflexion Ethique in the medical profession in France. After that I agree with my peers on the D and the I

Let us know
Charles Stanford (asker) Jan 30:
Apologies if it did not sound as if I was thanking you and Emmanuella as well Phil (I perhaps did not make that clear enough). Really grateful to all 3 of you for taking time out of your schedule to look at this and some very valuable input
philgoddard Jan 30:
You're welcome!
Charles Stanford (asker) Jan 30:
From the Abbé: "Groupe de Réflexion Ethique du Département Infirmier". So Phil and Emmanuella you were both on the right track. A big thank you to Bourth also for digging out that email address
Bourth Jan 29:
Alternatively [L'Abbé] Dominique Jacquemin, infirmier, prêtre, théologien, et docteur en santé publique also appears as a member of this GREDI. He can be contacted at:

Emmanuella Jan 29:
Pourquoi ne pas contacter le CHU de Namur ( site Godinne) ?

philgoddard Jan 29:
Yes, no one will care, but it still feels unsatisfying to put a translator's note saying 'unknown abbreviation'.
Charles Stanford (asker) Jan 29:
Yes Phil, there is a good chance you are right on that. Tried Googling it with "infirmiers" but no joy. Maybe "Groupe de recherche [éthique]...." - as Emmanuella suggests. One of those ones where the translation takes an hour and looking up this one flaming abbreviation that no one will probably care about anyway has taken me two hours. Really grateful to you both for spending your time on it too
Emmanuella Jan 29:
J'ai trouvé ce Monsieur sur un document PDF sans aucune explication. Éventuellement un 'Groupe de Recherche...
philgoddard Jan 29:
The 'I' could stand for infirmiers, and I think it must be an internal abbreviation rather than a national body, because it gets only a handful of hits and they relate to this guy.

Groupe recherche éthique déontologie infirmiers or something like that?

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Actually "Groupe de Réflexion Ethique du Département Infirmier" (in this case - Belgian context and not Canadian) as per the discussion entries, but still, you deserve the points for making the effort "
