To determine the relationship between life expectancy and ambient temperature the working group recommends taking a method already used in light engineering for electronic operational devices and applying it to LED modules. Here the manufacturer defines one or more temperature measurement points on the LED module. Several measurement points will be required whenever large temperature differences are to be expected on the module - on linear structures, for example. The luminaire manufacturer integrates the LED module in his luminaire design. The temperature is measured at the reference point of the LED module in a thermally stabilized state using thermosensors.
