Tony's has been run by Shailendra Patel for more than 20 years and has gradually built up a reputation for being what he call a "mini-Harrods". He sells a range of food products from just about every country in the world, for most tastes and ethnic groups.
***Like many operators of the new Hot Food to Go offer****, Mr Patel already had an instore oven to bake off bread products in the C'est Magnifique bakery package also offered by Delice de France. Adding the display cabinets for the ***hot food offer was simple and immediately increased the food takeway offer to include a Top 40 list of products.
This includes chicken goujons and BBQ wings, potato wedges, pizza bagels, pies and pasties, quiches, and a wide range of hot savouries. Also available from Delice de France are established products such as hot panini sandwiches, soup and bread, and a new range of convenience sandwich fillings.
Mr Patel says he has seen takeaway sales rise by 25 per cent in the few weeks he has offered the Hot Food to Go products. He also says he particularly appreciates the delivery service offered: twice daily if necessary. Delice will also deliver one box if asked; previous suppliers of ***bakeoff products*** delivered twice weekly with a 10-box minimum order. With frequent deliveries, a minimum of back-of-the-house freezer space is needed.
The package also includes point-of-sale and packaging material. Backing up the bakeoff offer is the ambient Delice de France Express display unit. This is a compact counter unit designed to retail a wide range of the company's wrapped ambient products. Delice has just extended its listing of wrapped and branded products to include more than 20 separate items including muffins, cookies, doughnuts, scones, viennoiserie, brownies and cake. Branded bags, packaging and paper napkins are also available.
Branding is very important in almost all ***bakeoff and takeaway outlets***. Consumers today find brands a reassurance, and for the operator the result is more sales appeal and a focus for attention, says Delice de France.
