Your English No problem with the word "humus" and its meaning, the issue was different (see comment by zenny). By the way, for someone who advises others you have rather too many grammatical errors in the term you suggest and in your comment.

Humus is E. word - a brown or black complex variable material resulting from partial decomposition of plant or animal matter and forming the organic portion of soil. That is a definition of humus in Webster's dictionary. Tha same apply in Cz. l.

In English 'humus' is only a noun. Therefore you must use a verb describing what is done with the humus in a particular situation. You can 'adds humus' to the soil, 'spread humus' over an area or 'cover it with humus', 'increase the content of humus', etc. It would depend on the particular situation and the reason why humus is being used.

organic fertilisation (of embankment)

It is common to fertilise embankments, especially if these were constructed from soil lacking nutrients for plants. Organic fertiliser is often referred to as "humus" (various materials can be contained - I leave that to your imagination :-)
