俗气 Explanation: Nerd has a few connotations, such as "not with it," "not cool," but also "smart in an intense, but not 'entertaining' way" (as in computer nerd). The Chinese phrase above means something like "common, run-of-the-mill, not 'hip'". Actually, I think "俗气" and "无聊" are often both used to descrbe such a person. Have fun! |
