account freeze +/- garnishment Explanation: Frozen bank accounts are part of “asset forfeitures”. Commonly referred to as “asset seizure” or (in the case of a bank account specifically) an “account freeze” (esp. in de volksmond). I would most certainly NOT call it an “attachment” unless your text is directed at the court (a judge) or attorney or other legal professional dealing with process documents and is legalese that needs a separate definition document to go with any communication (like insurance). Where I’m from, we call it “garnishment”, and it’s typically applied to wages and other disposable earnings. You don’t necessarily “garnish” a bank account, but an account may be frozen up to a certain amount owed depending on the court order or the garnishment notice the bank received. Simple, straightforward enough terms to cross reference in a search engine, so I’ll skip adding a bunch of reference links that may go dead in a few years |
