Heraf fremgår det, at slangudtrykket daffy for gin stammer fra Daffy's elixir. - Det udelukker selvfølgelig ikke, at der kan være tale om eliksiren, men i betragtning af det alkoholiserede miljø, som Oliver Twist foregår i, tror jeg mest på, at det er gin, der menes, også fordi:
