English to Dutch translations [PRO]
Law/Patents - Law (general) / Court proceedings (US)
English term or phrase: Enter
I'm working on the translation of an Order by a Justice, where at the end of it, under the date and above the signature of the Justice, the word "ENTER" appears.

"Dated: xxx

ENTER

Archie Bayne
Justice of the Supreme Court"

I'm not sure what to do with this specific term. Could anyone with experience with US civil proceedings suggest a standard term for this? Many thanks!

"In order to start enforcing a judgment, the judgment must be “entered.” Entry occurs after the clerk of the court signs and files the judgment. [...]"
-----------------------------------------------

http://www.mncourts.gov/?page=3728

"Sometimes, the judge will include explicit directions for the entry of judgment, saying, "Let judgment be entered accordingly," at the end of an order. But even if that language is not included in the judge's order, the district court administrator is required to enter a judgment on certain types of orders, including orders awarding money, granting summary judgment, and dismissing an action."

==> wellicht is de zin 'let judgment be entered accordingly', verworden tot 'Enter'...
(zie ook de volgende ref.)

http://mnbenchbar.com/2011/01/partial-summary-judgment/

"Minn. R.C.P. 54.02 provides that “the court may direct the entry of a final judgment as to one or more but fewer than all of the claims or parties only upon an express determination that there is no just reason for delay and upon an express direction for the entry of judgment.” The court makes the judgment final by entering the phrase, “There being no just reason for delay let judgment enter accordingly,” at the end of the order; by so doing, the court makes the judgment immediately appealable by the losing party. In the absence of this provision, mandated by Rule 54.02, the partial summary judgment is not considered a final judgment and is not appealable. The losing party must then wait until the end of the case, when all claims have been resolved and final judgment has been entered, before filing an appeal."
----------------------------------------------

http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Entry of Judgm...

"Formally recording the result of a lawsuit that is based upon the determination by the court of the facts and applicable law, and that makes the result effective for purposes of bringing an action to enforce it or to commence an appeal."

-----------------------------------------------

Op basis van het bovenstaande acht ik mijn suggestie plausibel. Het vonnis/de uitspraak moet worden ingeschreven om 'definitief' de worden. Inschrijving is de taak van de court clerk.

Explanation:
