Placa bacteriana situata subgingival determina indepartarea gingiei inflamate de dinte, astfel formandu-se punga parodontala – caracteristica principala a bolii parodontale. In punga se formeaza tesut de granulatie, un mediu excelent de dezvoltare pentru bacterii.
