сушёные помидоры - в данном контексте

Explanation:
для этого рецепта, по-идее, нало употреблять "помидоры" - т.к. рецепт - итальянский и слово - из итальянского.
Позволю усомниться, что их теперь действительно высушиваби на солнце (при том количестве банок с этой снедью, предлагаемых повсеместно) - в печах, скорее всего, сушат.

Хорошо, можно - \"вяленые томаты\" (тоже встречается).

Не вполне согласен с определением \"помидоры\" как разговорного термина. Просто есть некоторая традиция употребления. \"Консервированные томаты\", конечно, используются намного чаще, но вот где, кто и когда в пределах СНГ видел выражение \"салат из свежих томатов\"?

Valery Chernodedov: Помидоры все-таки более из разговорной речи. Где вы видели выражение "консервированные или очищенные помдоры"? Всегда томаты.

О томатах и помидорах...

Explanation:
I generally support Valery's answer. Since the discussion about "Tomaty" and "Pomidory" has arisen, I would like to express my opinion on the issue, because it may be very important in case of translating say a cook book, etc. I believe that "tomaty" would give a better means to translate all the variety of different tomato products used for recipes all over the world. Some of these products may have never been seen in the former Soviet Union Block before. So what? Are we going to skip them?
Just to give an idea what I mean: if I were to use the word "pomidiry", how in the world can I call tomatillos, cherry tomatoes, wine ripe tomatoes? Wouldn't it sound a bit strange to call them "malen'kie pomidorchiki", "pomidorchiki-chereshnya" "vinnye pomidiry"? Personally I would not feel quite comfortable using such 'terminology' in a serious book or article... :) Fit for a nice Chippolino-type story book for kids. :)

I may be wrong, of course. Then I will appreciate your opinion and references to sources. Thank you.
