Ako je nedoumica to što se javlja i civil register kao pojam, mislim da ovde nije isti prevod reči register - civil registers/registries su matične knjige, ali mislim da u vašem tekstu, u kontekstu rečenice koju ste naveli u pitanju, population registers predstavljaju evidencije stanovništva ili registre stanovništva.

Asker: Hoću da kažem, kako biste onda na engleskom rekli matične knjige?
Asker: Dodajem: u 2003. godini kada se dosnosio novi zakon PIO na srpskom smo govorili "maticna evidencija osiguranika", odn. "central register". U 2005 sve se vise govorilo "centralni registar". I danas je CROSO. Jezik jeste ziv, ali prevodioci imaju pravo da ocuvaju nesto ako smatraju da treba.
