English term or phrase: tabbed
Context: It's an educational manual. I´m working on the introduction, which explains how the manual is set up.
The sentence is:
These steps are the essence of the process and each of the five chapters is tabbed in this guide.

The problem is with the word "tabbed". All the translations I've seen "sound funny" to me. I don't like "aleta" or "pestaña". I´d be grateful for any help.
Thanks.

MARCADO / SEñALADO ( those words are enough)
Explanation:
Here , TABBED is a VERB.
Since you do not want to use "pestaña" or "aleta" , YOUR ONLY CHOICE IS NOT TO USE THESE WORDS AT ALL.
You can manage perfectly well if you just say: ESTá SEñALADO, ESTá MARCADO.

In Spanish there is no need to add PESTAñA or ALETA or any other word. If a book is "MARCADO" it is understood that it has a TAB.

Estoy de acuerdo con tu explicación. Fue lo primero que se me ocurrió, pero no estaba segura de si debía decir expresamente que había una aleta. Me parece que decir "estan marcados" a secas se entiende. Gracias por tu ayuda.
