What I do not tend to perceive is whether those *outside raters* are doctors, normal people or what...

es que conozco a gente de este tipo, pero no sabía que correspondían a un patrón.
Tengo un amigo que está convencido que en una semana de vacaciones en Turquía aprendió turco, en 15 días en Marruecos, hablaba árabe y así con el español y todos los idiomas. Pretende incluso enseñarlos a sus hijos. Yo no necesito saber turco o árabe (que algo sé y eso que lo estudié 6 años) para ser un "outside rater". Me basta con haber oído su español para saber (ahora sé que se llaman así) que es un "optimistic explanatory style"
