lena helson Nov 9, 2011: Never heard of this saying. Could be a very local expression. It sounds as somebody is avoiding using a stronger expression as" shit" or "dammit".
Åsa Schoening Nov 9, 2011: I'm not familiar with the expression, but I found a link with British expressions, http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/minced-oath.html, which lists the following: Cheese and rice: Jesus Christ, Christmas: Christ Hence it wouldn't seem too far-fetched to think that Cheese at Christmas is a similar expression. That's as close as I got when Googling it.
