English term

Double or nothing

English to Ukrainian Other Games / Video Games / Gaming / Casino
To bet double or nothing which means as per this Wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_or_nothing

"When a "double or nothing" bet is requested by the loser, if the winner accepts, then they play again. If the loser of the initial bet loses again, then the winner gets double the original bet. But if the loser of the initial bet wins, then he owes nothing. For example, if you owe someone $20 from a bet and you place a "double or nothing" bet with them and lose again, then you owe them $40; but if you win, then you owe them nothing."

I need this phrase for an excerpt of a film script I am coaching someone with.

все або нічого

In this case 'double' means 'all possible bets', I could say.

Пан або пропав.

That is "really Ukrainian", if you need a native wording.

only 'Double' is really translated, since 'Nothing' is an inherent threat present in every form of gambling... word-for-word, you are saying 'double the bet'

ва-банк

This is not exact translation but in case of crucial decisions in life this word is often used meaning "everything or nothing". In poker this is "all-in" analogue so it's not suitable for gaming scene
