any good ideas for how to translate this, KEEPING the man-technology image?
"across the range of disciplines" was my choice of a free translation but I'm wondering how to keep the original image
thank you for your time and interest

Research and innovation across a range of disciplines
ihmisestä teknologiaan stretches from the humanities to science and technology. Could well be translated as "across a range of disciplines" - the new Aalto University, perhaps?
Note from asker:
To respond to your informed guess: no, it's not Aalto University but Oulu, which has decided to position itself as a research/science university with an ambitious strategy |

Comment: "Hi
Thank you for this comment - I got two things from it:
across A (rather than THE) range of disciplines and, in your explanation, a solution:
from the humanities to science and technology (keeps the human element without the somewhat awkward personification)
Thank you very much.

I hope my suggestion will help you or my peers find a fitting solution.
Note from asker:
Hi I'm new to this site and don't really understand the system all too well. I hope this message will be seen along with my comment on the other suggestion I received. I very much appreciate your answer. Adding in the "culture" after "humans" makes all the difference. Manyt thanks again, Bärbel Fink |
