: IMO, meaning B is unlikely here. I agree in the main with meaning A, but why "creditor" instead of "lessor" when rent is involved?

Discussion
The term "portability" does exist in financial context in the UK but is used to describe something closer to current conception of "mobility" or "transferability". There are hits on Goolge about protability of mortgages for example. You move house but you can transfer your mortgage over to the new property. Same loan, different house, loan transferred, thus portable.
Edit : By extension, the second notion of tranferability, within the temrs of the law of 1966 may in fact mean the rent can be paid by bank transfer. See answer suggested below. Comments welcomed!
