French term

en situation résiduelle

French to English Medical Medical (general) Pharmacokinetics
Niveau de preuve du suivi thérapeutique pharmacologique du posaconazole

En effet à l’état d’équilibre, atteint après au moins 7 à 10 jours de traitement, la longue demi-vie d’élimination (35 h) et le fractionnement des prises conduisent à des profils d’évolution des concentrations en fonction du temps très aplatis avec un faible niveau de fluctuation. La concentration déterminée EN SITUATION RÉSIDUELLE est d’un ordre de grandeur proche de la concentration moyenne.

I'm proofreading the translation of this journa article, and "en situation résiduelle" has just been translated as "in a residual situation", which I am pretty sure is inadequate. I'm not sure what it means though. Can anyone help here please? Does it basically mean that the residual drug concentration is similar to the mean concentration?

I agree with your understanding - concentration résiduelle is the trough concentration (i.e. the lowest blood concentration of the drug, just before administering the next dose). I'd simplify "La concentration déterminée en situatio résiduelle" to "trough concentrations"

It's really the same as steady-state, état d’équilibre.

Definitely not!
