French term

coups

French to English Tech/Engineering Petroleum Eng/Sci gas pipeline
This comes from specifications for pigging a pipeline to check for anomalies, in this case a gas pipeline (in France).

When examining a pipeline there are thresholds of background noise and the word "coups" gets used a lot, but I'm not sure what it really refers to. I think it's probably to do with the test instruments and the signals they send/receive rather than someone hammering on the pipe! Do we have any pigging specialists who can point me to the right terminology for this please?

(and many others)

Thanks for saving my bacon!

Hello
An educated guess but then found in the reference given below, which says:

> MESURER
v. tr.

Definitely needs a confirmation or two before you go with this.
