German term or phrase: Lamellenbild
The term is used in a description of a museum display. Photos are mounted on a series of slats (front and back). By pulling a lever, the slats rotate and the other photo (mounted on the back) appears.
I've only found "lamellar" used in other contexts (medicine, armor, etc.) and am not sure if "lamellar picture" would be appropriate.

Asker: i agree - the term "lamellenbild" doesn't really apply. i think i'll end up going with something like turning/rotating picture. thank you all very much for your suggestions!

agree  Michael Wetzel: refers specifically to another technique, but I think that the German term is also being stretched here. Barring something better, I would say it is certainly adequate, especially as "a kind of" or "a sort of" turning picture.
