German term
Entwicklungsimpulse
German to English
Bus/Financial
Economics
I am having difficulty translating this word. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Context:
Die Staaten Zentralafrikas gehören zu den ressourcenreichsten Ländern Afrikas. Bisher haben sie jedoch kaum nennenswerte ENTWICKLUNGSIMPULSE aus dem Rohstoffreichtum ziehen können.
I was thinking sth. like:
The countries of central Africa are among the richest in the continent in terms of natural resources.
Until now however, they have been virtually unable to exploit their natural resources and improve their economic standing.
...but i dont know if that EXactly captures what is being said here. Thanks for your time. Kathryn.

economic drive/momentum

Of course "jedoch kaum nennenswerte" would be something along the lines of "hardly been able to generate any substantial" economic momentum/drive from these these natural resources.

Paul Cohen
: The developmental potential is already there. The problem is that it hasn't been effectively "exploited."
