Discussion

Jutta Scherer Nov 19, 2009:

TonyTK Nov 19, 2009:
You know I value your ... ... contributions, Andrew, but I was surprised to see such a quick answer from you. "Structurally conditioned" doesn't do a lot for me, to be honest. Take a look at the 45 (net: 23) UK hits ...
Lancashireman Nov 19, 2009:
Impossible? TTK is either exaggerating or suggesting that the one and only answer so far submitted is fraudulent. I should imagine that most major projects are indeed ‘structurally conditioned’. (smiley face)
TonyTK Nov 19, 2009:
Impossible to say ... ... what this means without more context. Have you got a sentence to go with it?

Thanks for the additional context. Because the phrase is being used adverbially rather than adjectivally, another approach is called for:
- by virtue of their very structure (or nature)
- due to structural factors
- because of the way they are structured

Thanks. Agreed. It turns out that the phrase was being used adverbially. Your request for the full sentence has therefore been vindicated.
