so it is rather the nature/chracteristics and culture of the Germanic tribes at the time of the Roman Empire the Germanic tribes behind the Limes (east of the Limes) The tribes under the leadership of Arminius stopped Rome's drive to the east, defeating 5 legions under the command of Varius in the Teuteburger Wald.
The Germanic tribes were very individualistic and normally faught one another before Arminius and after him. the rise of the Franconian Empire and the coercion into Christianity made Germanentum dissapear, however their Christmas tree is still around

In diesem Zusammenhang lese ich "Germanentum" als "Kultur der germanischen Völker/Stämme". Das war vor mehr als 2000 Jahren. Mit dem 20. Jh. hat das mMn nichts zu tun.

It´a obviously a typo and should have been "Germanentum"

actually it is not about context. general thema. It is my thesis for master. :( how germanentum and christentum has affected to german. but but ı dont know what germantum is. ? religion, i guess.. but how??
