Με πρόχειρη αριθμολογία δεν βγαίνουν πάντα τα πιο σωστά συμπεράσματα. Π.χ. θα μπορούσα κι εγώ να πω ότι το use the tried-and-true method έχει 450.000 ευρήματα, αλλά ξέρουμε ότι το Google κάνει και λίγο του κεφαλιού του.

Ομοίως, αν ψάξει κανείς παραδείγματα στο bbc.co.uk, θα δει ότι το beaten track και το beaten path χρησιμοποιούνται συνήθως με το νόημα του off the beaten track, δηλ. του απόμερα και απόκεντρα, ενώ το well-trodden path ταιριάζει περισσότερο για την πεπατημένη, ιδιαίτερα αν είναι να φτιάξει κανείς και φράση του είδους follow the well-trodden path of ~ing.
