Spanish term
glicemia
Spanish to English
Medical

glycemia (glycaemia is a slightly more Latinized variant)
This is a diabetic state in which you can have too much sugar in the bloodstream (hyperglycemia) or too little (hypoglycemia, my mother died of it. This latter is also known as insulin shock, in which the insulin that supposedly regulates diabetes increases above a tolerable level).

blood sugar [or blood-sugar level]
I recently did a translation on a diabetes medication, and this is what I came up with for "glicemia" in consultation with the client. It seems to be more neutral, without expecting a hypo- or hyper- prefix.

: That's the term I'd use for patients; Glycemia for physicians.
