I was born and have spent my childhood in the Netherlands. When I was nine years old, my parents moved to Indonesia. Having reading as my hobby, I have spent many hours reading Dutch books and this has helped me in developing my knowledge of the Dutch language. I have worked as a Dutch language teacher at Karta Pustaka, the Indonesian-Dutch Cultural Centre in Yogyakarta, Indonesia from September 2000 - January 2010. During that time I have been asked several times to translate articles from Dutch into Indonesian. I have also helped my student who is making a comparison study between an Indonesian novel from Pramudya Ananta Toer and the Dutch novel from Louis Couperus entitled "De Stille Kracht" with the translation of "De stille Kracht" into Indonesian.
