1979-1992. Stationed continuously in Indonesia. . Worked in bilateral and multilateral foreign aid programs. In all of this work I was a technical advisor to the Indonesian government and had my office in various Indonesian government ministries. My counterparts in work were Indonesian government officials and all work was done in Indonesian. In addition to my technical skills, about half of my time was devoted to translating reports and other written materials such as contracts back and forth from Indonesian to English or serving as an interpreter between Indonesian officials and English speaking visitors.
1992-1998. Short-term assignments in Indonesia based in the United States. Similar work as from 1979-1992, but now on short-term assignments mainly for the World Bank and based in Florida. About 3 additional years spent in Indonesia during this time.

Working through a Metropolitan Interpreter contract, assigned as a contract linguist to the US government. Provide translation and interpreting assistance working out of a Miami office and on TDYs to Washngton, DC and Indonesia.
2001-2003 Freelance translations and interpreting for legal counsel of cruise ship lines (Carnival, Norwegian, etc) for Indonesian crew members involved in onboard accidents. Includes depositions, translating for doctors and telephone translations for crews members in Indonesia.
