This is Jesús Buendía. I'm a freelancer specialized in Creative Translation and I work as a translator and subtitler.
My fields vary from entertainment, gaming and IT, sciences, travel and tourism, and marketing (transcreation). My language pairs are English to Spanish and French to Spanish and my target language is always Castilian Spanish, which is my mother tongue.
I started to work in the translation industry in 2017 in a little agency where I worked as an in-house translator, project manager, and sometimes also interpreter (liaison) in the public service, mainly hospitals. During that time, I used to work as an English teacher too for an academy in my home town, and some nearby schools.
I quit both jobs because I moved to Valencia to study for a Master's degree in Creative Translation. As part of the master's syllabus, I took an internship in Subtitula'm, which is an agency specialized in subtitles and audiovisual translation, that I'm very to keep as a client now, as a freelancer.
Since I became a freelancer, apart from being a translator of texts of different kinds, I work as a ZOO vendor, translating videos for VOD platforms; as a revver, translating videos of different kinds, from marketing and advertising to conferences and courses; as a subtitler for Film Festivals such as San Sebastián's, Gijón's, Valencia's, and Sevilla's, something that makes me so proud and happy; and I've recently started with accessibility, subtitling meetings and conferences from entities such as the Festival de Cine por Mujeres and the University Carlos III of Madrid, and some things for TV (documentaries), as well.
At the end of 2020, I started to work as a content consultant and linguistic adviser for the eyewear company Firmoo, as well as their website localizer.
