Wir hoffen alles, dass der Impfstoff gegen COVID-19 unserer Retter ist. Die sogenannte ‚AZD1222‘ entwickelte von AstraZeneca jetzt verfügbar ist. Aber was müssen wir über diese Entwicklung wissen?
Die Biologie ist ziemlich leicht, um zu verstehen. Der Impfstoff ist eine Variation auf die Erkältungsviren aus der Familie Adenoviren, modifiziert damit gegen COVID-19 wirksam ist. Er ist harmlos und funktioniert, um die Oberflächenproteins des Coronavirus zu enthalten.
Der Impfstoff AstraZeneca hat seit 30. Dezember schon in viele Teile von Großbritannien zirkuliert, und wurde in mehr als 50 Ländern auf vier Kontinenten zulassen. Gemäß die klinischen Tests wissen wir, dass der ersten Dosis 76% wirksam ist und 82% nach der zweite Dosis 12 Wochen später ist. Wir wissen auch, dass der Impfstoff AstraZeneca ein bisschen weniger effektiv gegen die britische Mutation ist, aber immer noch 75%. Man kann nicht immun sind, aber der Impfstoff sehr wichtig ist, um die ‚Herdenimmunität‘ zu entwickeln.
Kurz gesagt, „der Impfstoff ist besser als sein Ruf“ die Experten sagen. Wir haben jetzt auch die Vakzine von Biontech und Pfizer. Wir müssen warten und hoffen, dass die Situation verbessert.

We all hope that the vaccine against COVID-19 will be our saviour. The so-called 'AZD1222' developed by AstraZeneca is now available. But what do we need to know about this development?
The biology is pretty simple to understand. The vaccine is a variation of the common cold virus from the Adenovirus family, modified to be effective against COVID-19. It is harmless and works by containing the coronavirus' surface proteins.
The AstraZeneca vaccine as been circulated in many parts of Great Britain since the 30th of December, and will be made available in more than 50 countries over four continents. As per the clinical trials, we know that the first dose is 76% effective, and the 2nd dose (taken 12 weeks later) is 82% effective. We also know that the AstraZeneca vaccine is slightly less effective against the British mutation, but still 75%. One cannot be immune, but the vaccine is very important in developing 'herd immunity'.
In short, "the vaccine is better than it's reputation", say the experts. We now also have the vaccines from Biontech and Pfizer. We have to wait and hope that the situation gets better.
