Translation - English Presentation:
Peru boasts over 60 conservation areas, and Tumbes is home to one of the most beautiful and unique zones of all: the Mangrove Forests. These mangrove forests thrive in the warm tropics, where the ocean saltwater meets the fresh water of the rivers. This is considered one of the most productive ecosystems on the planet.
The mangrove ecosystem in Tumbes is comprised of four species: the red mangrove (Rhizophora mangle), the salty mangrove (Avicennia germinans), the white mangrove (Laguncularia racemosa), and the button mangrove (Conocarpus erectus).
This ecosystem is home to a great diversity of wildlife and is the breeding ground for many species of crustaceans, birds, fish and mammals. It’s also the last refuge on Earth of the endangered Tumbes crocodile.
One of the most important mollusks in the diet of our ancestors was the Spondylus, which is found throughout the Pacific Ocean, and is brought to this area of Peru as a consequence of the action of El Niño. This mollusk possesses a beautiful and colorful shell, and was used as a barter item for gold and silver by the ancestors. It played an important role in the cosmology of the Inkas. It continues to be used today in combination with gold and silver, to make beautiful necklaces and earrings with ancient Inka motifs.

I was born and raised in the United States and live in Cuzco, Peru and in the US. I studied English in Brooklyn College, in Bklyn, NY and later raised a family in New Mexico; the whole family moved to Cuzco, Peru in 2003.
I taught English in Cuzco for three years and am fluent in Spanish. I started translation work 9 years ago, when I noticed how many poor translations there were in this area. Much of my work has been in the areas of marketing and publicity for travel and tourism brochures. I have researched the geographical sites of interest and the tourist destinations here in Peru, and have gained knowledge about the Inca Culture and Peruvian history as well as Peru's ecological zones.
Projects I have completed include: the translation, writing and creative adaptation of a website devoted to eco-tourism in the Peruvian Amazon. The project may be seen at:
http://www.yacutayta.org/en/index_en.html
Other projects include a large translation on medicinal plants, (15,000 words), a report on the child psychologist, Jean Piaget's, work, a corporate deed, and a legal report on tobacco laws in Spain. I have completed a financial translation for a Peruvian bank, translating their annual report and related Excel documents, as well as other translation and creative adaptation work in the fields of cooking, art, biology, spirituality, esoterica, literature and poetry, music, history and others. I have never missed a deadline and have received high ratings from customers (see Blueboard ratings and recommendations on my profile)
I enjoy translation work and pride myself on finding the turn of phrase that will connote the same meanings in the target language as intended in the original. I work painstakingly to ensure that the flow, context and meaning are preserved from original to target language. I will work long hours when there are deadlines to meet and have the ability to get the job done within the required time frame.
I look forward to working on your Spanish- English and English- Spanish translation projects.
