Discussion

Peter Linton (X) Dec 9, 2005:
I think Michele Fauble has a point - references are valuable, and provide a more solid basis for choosing. So I think it is legitimate to regard the same words but with references as a new answer.
Derringdo Dec 8, 2005:
OK, but isn't it better to add only the new suggestions? And references are fine but don't qualify as new answers.
Michele Fauble Dec 8, 2005:
To provide an alternative translation that was not suggested in the earlier answer and to provide references, which the asker might find useful.
Derringdo Dec 7, 2005:
Why do people suggest answers that have already been given a few hours earlier?
Michele Fauble Dec 7, 2005:
This is Swedish. It should be 'Knn ingen sorg fr mig'.
Rebecca Barath Dec 7, 2005:
Nope, not NyNorsk
Terence Ajbro Dec 7, 2005:
This is not Danish, probably New Norwegian

Selected

Don't grieve for me/don't feel sorry for me

If it is Swedish the spelling is not correct. But it does sound Swedish.

If it is slang I would understand it as "Don't trouble yourself over me" or something like that.

Thanks
agree Hans Harding : It is not slang, but known from the lyrics of a song by Håkan Hellström.

Thanks. You have more exp. in the world of Kudoz than me so maybe repeating parts of other suggestions is alright. Maybe the "rules" differ in the different fora. :)

Can't anyone look after me

I think this is Swedish. My Swedish is not as strong as my Danish, but I think it does mean the above.

P.S. If it really is slang, I suppose a better translation would be "Can anyone look out for me".

Don't cry for me

As the asker specifies slang, I think you need something lightweight like this, particularly because it echoes the well-known song. Words like 'grieve' and 'mourn' are of course perfectly correct translations, but they are not really slang words -- too high a register in this context, in my view.
