French term

première monte

French to English Bus/Financial Aerospace / Aviation / Space Aeronautics
Does this refer to prime contracting/manufacturing? I am familiar with the term en pleine monte but draw a blank with this one. Could it be the first stage in the manufacturing of a product before it is passed on to the next (for example, when British Aerospace makes the wings for Airbus jets then sends them to Toulouse)? Many thanks in advance.

L’activité à risque, réalisée avec xx et yy en première monte, ne représente que xx% de l’activité aéronautique en notant toutefois une plus grande stabilité chez yy

Original equipment or OE

I know that in the automotive sector this means original equipment ie fitted when the vehicle is first built, as opposed to replacement parts. Suppliers can be OE or replacement part suppliers.
See reference for just one example of the use of these terms or search google for others

agree Helen D. Elliot (X) : Also correct (in the OE market by xx and yy) but I prefer Nikki's answer, because it's a direct reference (the OEMs have been named [e.g., OEMs Boeing and Airbus])

initial assembly

I understand the words to mean initial assembly, i.e. the first stage of production.

But in the context you give, I understand it to mean sub-assembly. Airbus has contracted with Sonaca to produce wing slats, but since orders are under plan, there is a certain exposure where the premier monte production is ongoing, but Sonaca might produce slats sooner than needed.

Anyway, they say that the exposure is not that big.

agree Meri Buettner : I have used "original assembly" in ref to the automobile industry
