up-bow

up-bow, also written as upbow or up bow
Referring to bowing (control of the bow) when playing a string musical instrument. When the bow is pushed up (to the player's left) by the right hand, it's called up-bow, when it's pulled down (to the player's right), it's called down-bow. A symbol that looks like a "v" is often placed over the note to designate up-bow.

Colloquial. Both in general terms and in concrete examples, as in "spiccato вверх" or "staccato вниз", corresponding to the English "upbow spiccato" or "downbow staccato". Or "this is played upbow" - это играется вверх.
